1979
In May 1979, Rev. Emiliano and Elizabeth Guevara began their pioneering work in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in San Diego, California. The pioneering work began with small cell groups extending from Imperial Beach areas to Poway, California. The church began attracting mostly Filipinos who were involved in the military, who were new immigrants to the United States, and who were both young and old. The church also attracted Caucasians, Blacks, Mexicans and other Asian groups. Glad Tidings Church birthed other daughter churches in other areas such as Oceanside, Long Beach, Poway, Oxnard all in California, and in Reno, Nevada.
1993
After serving for over 4o years, Rev. Emiliano Guevara went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 1993. The Guevaras have four children; Phoebe Grace, Levi Paul, Jerry james, and Ethylyn Joy. In October 1993, Rev. Elizabeth Guevara took over as Senior Pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. The work for the Lord continued under her leadership by supporting foreign missionaries, and local churches. Sunday Schools, Home Bible Studies, Senior Groups and Youth Outreach also o continued.
